Southern Charm

8.21.2017

This past weekend my husband and I traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina for our friends' wedding. Having never been to North Carolina, I couldn't help but appreciate the southern charm. Their wedding venue, The Merrimon-Wynne House, was like stepping into the pages of Southern Living magazine.  Having felt so inspired by the traditional Antebellum architecture and antique interior decor, I thought I would take a moment to share some pictures.

Loving the white rockers on the porch.

Antique fainting couch + florals for the win!

Well-styled and accessorized heavy wood fireplace mantel.  Just one of several fireplaces in the house.

Congrats Pat and Becca.  We had a blast and couldn't be happier for you!

Why I'm in love with Madison

WHY I'M IN LOVE WITH MADISON

My weekend started with a trip to the Dane County Farmers' Market.  If you have never experienced it, I recommend going early. It gets very busy, but the selection is second to none.  You can find everything from infamous Wisconsin cheese curds, to baked goods, to venison.  Among my favorites are the selection of cheese breads from Stella's Bakery.

Then my husband and I made way to the Memorial Union Terrace, which is a popular hangout for Madison students and residents alike.  My husband is an avid sailor, so we went out for a short sail, and then stuck around to share drinks and pizza with friends.

Our Sunday ended in good company, grilling with long time friends and playing fetch with our pups in my backyard.  Cheers to another wonderful Madison weekend.

Westmorland

MY NEW MADISON NEIGHBORHOOD, WESTMORLAND

My husband and I recently purchased a home in the Westmorland neighborhood, and we have fallen in love with it.   For starters, our house is located next to the Westmorland Golf Club, which can be enjoyed all year round.  In the summer we enjoy overlooking perfectly manicured lawns & a few rounds of golf, and in the winter trails are groomed for cross-country skiers.  I have also found it to be an excellent place to take my black lab to burn some pent-up winter energy.

My husband and I are also into biking, so we love being just a few short blocks from the bike path. There is also a sizeable playground in the neighborhood, as well as Sequoya Public Library.

And there are a few pretty tasty restaurants & coffee shops just a few blocks away. Here are some of my fav's.

Gates & Brovi best describes themselves as east coast fish house meets midwest supper club. The wait staff and bartenders are always friendly, and the atmosphere simply charming. I recommend trying the Chicken Picatta. Bon appetite!

Next on my list is the Village Bar. If you are looking for a great neighborhood bar, sports, and phenomenal cheeseburgers, look no further. This place has also been featured as a hot spot on the travel channel.

Last on my list is EVP Coffee, an excellent place to grab your morning cup of joe. Plus it has an awesome story; it is local, independent, and woman-owned.
